The Puertallano IGCC Project is located in Puertollano, Spain and is owned and operated by ELCOGAS. The project was first started in 1990 and the first coal syngas production was in 1997. The Puertollano Project is considered a success story by all including the NETL. .

Many papers have been presented on the Puertollano IGCC Project including a report presented to the Institution of Chemical Engineers. The project is the largest IGCC facility in the world. .

Gasification technology – Prenflo.

Turbines – Siemans SGT5-3000E gas and type SST5-5000 steam turbines.

Generation capacity – 298 Mw (net).
